No, not the superheroes...

Head
These works involve more of the content aspect of art and required more thought into how we want to represent our voices and commentary on the world.

Transparency is a wire sculpture of a girl and is commentary on the false image people portray of themselves on social media to appear idealistic and creating a lack of transparency between people. When people see "perfect" Instagram models and influences, they don't see half the battle that goes into maintaining that lifestyle and makes younger viewers feel as though they are inadequate and should be able to look the same or have the same lifestyle. I chose to do this out of wire because the technological age is all circuitry and signals which allow this content to be spread all over social media. I chose to make a bust (ish) of a girl because I think that younger girls are primarily affected by the ideal images put in front of them and because there is little transparency in how much work it takes to maintain such a lifestyle, they are faced with feelings of inadequacy and worthlessness.
Thoughts and Prayers is a sculpture about gun control, or rather, the lack thereof. I chose to represent the tragic shootings with the gun balls because they are pokey and painful and rather ugly, as shootings are painful both physically and emotionally. The flowers are symbolic of the flowers placed at memorials and graves and represent how many in the government and country only give sympathy and holds the people affected in their "thoughts and prayers" rather than actually doing anything to stop these from occurring. The wires are connecting the gun balls with the flowers demonstrate the trapped and caged feelings of many in society about not being able to do anything about the shootings and feeling scared that they will be next.

These are the works that were just about doing what we love, in material, subject, or theme that are what we enjoy toying around and experimenting with to create pieces that were overall just fun to make.

Mallory is a picture of my cousin and because I enjoy taking pictures and editing them, that is what I chose to do as one of my "hearts". I was kinda influenced by oil paintings because currently, we are talking about oil paintings and I went with some of the same vibes with the luminosity of specific areas created with indirect painting methods and the wear on the image that usually accompanies the older oil paintings.
Radial Design is a picture of the nail art I did. I used a technique called water-marbling to create the base colors of the light and dark greens, a stamping tool to stamp the black outlines, and then topped it with a holographic glitter topcoat because why not. I chose to do nail art because I have loved painting my nails and doing fun designs since sixth grade (shout-out to seventh grade me who killed sooo many brain cells by insisting on painting her nails differently every week) and I have carried this hobby with me ever since. I chose to call it Radial Design because the composition of each nail uses a radial pattern that focuses on a point in the center (ish) of the nail and radiates outward.
